Frequently Asked Questions

How often should rental snowmobiles be serviced?
Rental sleds need daily pre-ride checks before every customer outing. Full service should be done at the start of the season, mid-season (or every 1,000 miles), and post-season for storage. Rental sleds get used harder than personal machines, so do not skip the mid-season service even if you are busy with bookings.
What is the most common snowmobile breakdown on the trail?
Drive belt failure is the number one trail-side breakdown. Belts wear out faster on rental sleds because inexperienced riders are harder on the drivetrain. Always carry a spare belt on every sled and train your staff to do a belt swap in the field. A mid-season belt check can prevent most trail-side failures.
How should I store snowmobiles at the end of the season?
Fog the engine, stabilize the fuel, drain and replace coolant, remove the battery, and elevate the sled so the track and skis are not resting on the ground. Cover with a breathable cover and store in a dry area. Proper storage prevents corrosion, dried-out seals, and flat spots on the track. Log total season miles for each sled.
Do I need an emergency kit on every rental sled?
Yes. At minimum, carry a spare drive belt, basic tools, a tow strap, and a first aid kit on every sled. For guided tours, the lead sled should carry the full emergency kit. For unguided rentals, attach a small emergency pouch to each sled. This protects your customers and reduces the chance of having to recover a stranded sled.
