Frequently Asked Questions

When should I winterize my rental RVs?
Winterize before the first hard freeze in your area. In northern states, that means October or early November. For rental fleets, start as soon as your peak season ends. Waiting too long risks frozen and cracked plumbing lines, which can cost thousands per unit to repair.
How much antifreeze do I need per RV?
A typical RV requires 2-3 gallons of non-toxic RV antifreeze to winterize the plumbing system. Larger Class A motorhomes with multiple bathrooms may need 4-6 gallons. Always use non-toxic (propylene glycol) antifreeze rated to -50F, never automotive antifreeze (ethylene glycol).
Can I skip winterization in mild climates?
If temperatures never drop below 32F in your area, you can skip the water system winterization. However, you should still stabilize fuel, maintain batteries, cover tires, and prep the interior for extended storage. Even one unexpected freeze can cause catastrophic plumbing damage.
How long does it take to winterize an RV?
A thorough winterization takes 3-5 hours per RV. The water system is the most time-consuming part (1-2 hours). Motorhomes take longer than travel trailers due to engine and generator prep. Budget a full day per 2-3 units in your fleet.
