Frequently Asked Questions

How much should I charge for delivery?
At minimum, cover your fuel, labor, and vehicle wear costs with a 15-25% margin. Most rental businesses charge $50-$150 for local delivery (under 15 miles) and $2-$5 per mile beyond that. Use this calculator to find your actual cost, then add margin for profit.
Should I offer free delivery?
Free delivery can be a competitive advantage, but only if you bake the cost into your rental price. If your average delivery costs $75 and you offer free delivery, make sure your rental price is at least $75 higher than it would be otherwise. Never absorb delivery costs without accounting for them.
How do I set up delivery zones?
Create 3-5 concentric zones around your warehouse. Zone 1 (0-10 miles) might be free or $50. Zone 2 (10-20 miles) might be $75-$100. Zone 3 (20-35 miles) might be $125-$175. Use this calculator to find your actual cost per mile, then set zone prices that cover costs with a healthy margin.
